New intern joins BDL for the year
Lynée Turek-Hankins joined Burn Design Lab this past September on the heels of completing an electrical safety design and policy internship in Córdoba, Argentina. She has also studied and worked in Santiago, Chile and Nancimí, Nicaragua. She is taking a year off from her studies at Stanford University, where she is pursuing a Bachelor's of Science in mechanical engineering, with a minor in studio art practice. She will return to school next autumn to complete her senior year.
At school she has worked a myriad of jobs from being a research assistant in an immunity bioengineering lab at the Stanford Medical School to being financial manager of a social activism themed cooperative house. She is continuing the tunnel project initiated by previous interns, and hopes to expand the project to explore other means of improving the usability of the stick-fed rocket stove to promote convenience and mitigate required user energy. In her free time Lynée is an avid painter, crossword completer, and backpacker.
