Burn Design Lab is pleased to announce that we have just been awarded a $75,000 grant from the Osprey Foundation in support of our general operations, giving us the flexibility to decide where funds are needed to best support our mission. The need for cleaner and more efficient methods to utilize fuel is enormous, and establishing strong and meaningful partnerships with key organizations and communities is critical to our success.
As a research, design, and development nonprofit, staffing our projects is our primary expense. Burn Design Lab’s team uses human-centered design to make recommendations and adjustments to local improved cookstove businesses that deliver energy access to their communities. Using this methodology leads to faster adoption of new technology and increased availability and use of clean cookstoves. The Osprey Foundation’s support will help BDL achieve our three primary goals over the next five years:
Benefit 25 million households,
Reduce 1.5 gigatons of CO2, and
Save 1.5 million trees
We are grateful to the Osprey Foundation for demonstrating their trust in our leadership and staff to deploy our resources strategically. We feel very fortunate to have their support in our work designing and developing improved cooking options that are not harmful to health or the planet. Thank you, Osprey Foundation!
