Burn Design Lab

Burn Design Lab is supporting Global Good, the University of Washington, and BURN Manufacturing Company in the design of a fan-powered forced injection wood-burning cookstove. The design is a modification of the Kuniokoa stick fed rocket stove which BDL, UW, & Burn Mfg. originally developed. The turbo iteration integrates a fan to introduce turbulence and reduce the harmful carbon monoxide and particulate matter emissions produced by burning wood and other biomass fuels. We have been busy conducting performance and emissions testing on the final two turbo stove prototypes. The best performing stove will be selected to undergo a pilot study in Kenya in order to gather valuable user feedback for further iterations. -Anna Iisa, Cookstove Laboratory Fellow
