Burn Design Lab Welcomes New Cohort of Interns!

Burn Design Lab’s emphasis on experiential learning and opportunities for young STEM students means that there is never a shortage of new faces in the office.

A proud native of Troy, NY, Peter Hamlin is in his final year of Mechanical Engineering at Northeastern University in Boston, MA. Having previously completed two internships in optics manufacturing and wearable technology through NEU’s co-op program, he will be a Mechanical Engineering Design Intern at BDL for five months.

New Interns

Maggie Rosner has just finished her sophomore year in the Mechanical Engineering program at Olin College of Engineering, MA. She is taking a semester off from school to work at BDL as a Mechanical Design Intern and will be with us through December.

Newly minted high school graduate Molly Mazzucco will be with us till mid-August before heading out to the University of Maine to study Mechanical Engineering and Environmental Science come fall. She has been in contact with BDL since 2017, when her own project on rocket stoves, which she started in seventh grade, prompted her to reach out and ask for feedback on her designs.

Having just received her M.S. in Environmental Engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder, new Cookstove Testing Fellow Anna Iisa will be with BDL for a year, where she’ll manage lab operations and test improved cookstove prototypes to characterize their performance.

Raya Foster also joins us from Northeastern University, where she studies Chemistry. She is currently exploring her interests in nonprofit work as a grant-writing and development intern for BDL.
