Staffing Updates at BDL!
In April, Burn Design Lab said farewell to Mechanical Engineering Fellow Elaine Vu-Phan when her fellowship ended. Elaine played an integral role in designing the early Shea Roaster Project prototypes, and was an important team member on the field testing trip to Ghana last June. Recently Elaine has been pursuing woodworking while honing her craftsmanship skills, to the delight of her friends and neighbors. We wish Elaine all the best in her future endeavors and thank her for all her contributions to Burn Design Lab!
This summer we are blessed to have two new additions to the Burn Design Lab team, Brock Grenci and Jeremy Su! Brock joins us remotely from the East Coast as an intern through the ETHOS program. Brock is currently pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Dayton. “BDL's values and mission align well with my own,” he shared about choosing BDL, “I was excited for the chance to join an organization that tries to do good wherever they can.” This summer Brock is supporting a variety of projects and teams, and we are so excited to have the opportunity to work with him. Jeremy is joining the team as a mechanical engineering design intern. He is currently attending Northeastern University in Boston, MA but joins us for the summer for one of his co-ops. Jeremy will join the Shea Roaster Project team and we can’t wait for him to arrive in July!
Finally, we are pleased to announce that mechanical engineering design intern Dan Casey will extend his time with Burn Design Lab through the summer months! Since his start in January, Dan has contributed his design skills to the Shea Roaster project and recently to the N95 Decontamination Box project. We are really excited about his decision to extend his internship, and can’t wait to see what more exciting designs he will contribute!
